This project was creating a website for a photographer named Bill Gallery. Bill Gallery is an experienced photographer in the field who is known across the country. He came to me and asked if I could create a site for him.
The reason that Bill came for my help with his website was because his current site at the time was not loading properly, it was slow compared to other sites, and did not offer features that Bill wanted. One of those features was something called a lightbox. This is a feature for someone looking for a stock photo who would like to save the photo. It has comparisons to a shopping cart but for stock photos.
Challenges and Solutions of the Website:
What is a project with some minor bumps in the road? One of the challenges I had with this website design was the lightbox feature that the client wanted. WordPress did not feature a plugin that would do this and full integrate it with the gallery. My solution was to find a website software that gave us this feature but allows us to customize freely.
We came across a platform called Photodeck which allowed us to have the lightbox feature and everything else that we need. Although the program was a bit difficult to customize, with my skills of HTML and CSS, I was able to code the site to the client’s liking.
Update: The website has now been moved off of the platform due to limitations with the client’s request. The site has now been coded by a developer that I had suggested. Myself and the developer worked hand in hand to ensure that the site was designed and coded to all specifications of the client.
Stock Photography Lightbox:
While doing this project, I created the site based off of the client’s color palette. I really thought these colors spoke with the black being powerful and elegant while the orange is represented as creativity and success.
