Mop’s N Buckets Web Design

Mop’s N Buckets is a company in New Hampshire that offers an excellent cleaning service. This company came to me for a redesign of their website. The previous website was older, did not provide mobile friendliness, and just needed a new modern look. The owner was comfortable with giving me control of the design and to give it a makeover.

What Was Needed on the New Site:

  • Responsive design/Improve User Experience
  • Updated logo that had the ability to shrink
  • New stock images
  • Booking calendar for appointments

Before I started to work on the site, I went through the site and worked with the owner to determine what was worth keeping and what was not. We decided to keep most of the worded content the same but change the stock photography featured on his website.

One of his biggest problems with his old site was the responsiveness. The old site did not have the ability to become mobile friendly. One of my biggest pet peeves about websites is their ability to be mobile friendly. I speak about this in depth in another article that I wrote called, How Your Mobile Website is Critical to Keep You Afloat. In addition to the lack of responsiveness, if we were to keep his old logo, it would have not been suitable for mobile use due to its size and detail.

Another request that the client had was the ability to let returning customers book appointments on the site with a functioning calendar.

Out With the Old, In With the New

As you can see above, the new site is not boxed like the old but full width. The new site is now responsive and ready for mobile use. On the right, you can see how the website is able to shift perfectly into mobile form. With the old site, if you were to open it on your mobile device, you would have to pinch or zoom into the site be able to read.

Another thing to notice about the old site is the logo. As you can see it is small, and once put on a phone, it would be even harder to read. I suggested creating an updated logo that would look great for both platforms and shrink nicely. After the logo was updated, I used the color scheme throughout the website.

One of my other suggestions was to put a post on the website about the company’s efforts about battling COVID-19. I thought this was a great idea seeing how important it is, especially for a cleaning service.
